PART ONE of my top suggestions for what to wear for your Boudoir Session.
1. The White Shirt
Probably my number one favourite because everyone feels comfortable in a white shirt. Wear it over your favourite lingerie set, over a beautiful lace textured bodysuit or over nothing at all for the ultimate elegant look. Borrow one of our sheer shirts that skim the body, show off your curves and add an air of mystery with some anonymous silhouettes. It's a great way to begin your boudoir session as it helps get over the nerves and builds your confidence.
2. The White Sheet
Simple and suits every body. Plus this has to be the most comfortable part of your Boudoir session!
3. The Body
A lace or plain body suits everyone, regardless of age or size. Great for showing off your curves. If you have a larger bust, a supportive body can make you feel more confident and really help show off that amazing cleavage. If your bust is on the smaller size, a simple lace all in one is the perfect feminine outfit. Almost every woman in my studio is conscious of the tummy area, this is the perfect way to make sure that is NOT the focus of your images.
4. Something Personal
OK, this one can seem a little daunting. We all have an idea of what we SHOULD wear for a Boudoir Experience at The Portrait Boutique Cardiff, but this is your chance to express your individuality. Let's create something unique and special.
Here are some ideas from previous clients:
A leather jacket or your partners jacket, fur coat, a slouchy jumper or special t-shirt. Any meaningful item of clothing - a skirt, a dress (even if it no longer zips up - we can work with that too!) a pair of ripped jeans. Borrow some fabric from the studio or one of our tulle gowns for that princess/hollywood moment. Flowers, jewelry, corsets....time for us to get creative!
Part of our service is a consultation where we can discuss and bring to light your ideas. Get in touch with us and we can create some amazing Boudoir images that will celebrate and empower you.
5. Bra and Pants set
I think this is the first thing that every woman thinks of when they hear the word "Boudoir". Of course this is a fabulous way of showing off your personality. Maybe you wear Calvin Kleins or you prefer black lace. Colour may be your thing - red is the obvious choice but go bold with hot pink or bright orange. If you prefer something more subtle, blues and greens look great on most skin tones. The truth is there is no right or wrong - it's about wearing what you feel suits your personality.
And the best tip I can give you, it MUST fit properly. Too tight or too big then my best advice is leave it at home! Don't think you need to go and spend a fortune on boutique brands either - I have had clients looking fabulous in supermarket lingerie. Go to a reliable lingerie shop and get measured by a professional around 4 weeks before your session to make sure you are wearing the right size (I only found out recently I 've been wearing the wrong size for 20 years - oops!)
